An Update

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday, and once again, we talked delivery. VBAC vs. C-section. I'm continuing to measure about a cm larger than I should be. With Monkey, I was right on every time. Dr. Hinkle is a gem, and he knows I don't want to go with a section. He's trying to be so gentle with getting me to accept reality. We decided yesterday to go ahead and get me on the surgery schedule because he wanted me to have a good surgery date and time. We'll still do the ultrasound at 36 weeks to see how big our baby boy is, but it looks like a section is going to be our safest bet. Schedule comes out next week, so we should know next appt whether it will be the 19th, 20th, or 21st of August.

I told Hubby last night as we were chatting in bed that it's kinda strange to know the date our baby is going to be born. He agreed. Me, the lover of surprises, is not really okay with that. There, I said it. BUT, I am very okay with doing what is best for me and our baby. Right now, that is to schedule his birthday. Who knows, maybe I'll go earlier than 39 weeks and the scan will show a little guy in there, and out he will come! If not, no matter what, everything will be perfect. As my BFF said today, it will be nice to be able to put Monkey to bed the night before knowing what the next day holds!!

Nine weeks and counting little man! I love you to the moon and back already!

Some Random Monkeyness

  • I never ever grow tired of hearing your pitter patter throughout the house. Whether it be stocking footed pitter patter or the bare footed slightly-stick-to-the floor pitter patter. I told my Mom that when she was up, and she commented that the sad thing is you don't even realize when that has gone away until one day when you no longer hear it. It happens way too fast. Lately, I've been trying to tuck the pitter patter sound away in the corners of my mind to pull out later when I need to remember you being little.
  • You kissed me the other morning!!! I think my smile was wider than my cheeks would allow. It's always been a routine that you give me a love when I get you out of your seat after eating. I figured that this way I at least had an average of three times a day where you might give in and finally give me a kiss. Sure enough, you leaned in for the open mouther yesterday morning. I loved it up!! You probably thought I was crazy for the silly dance that I did with you, but I've been treated to at least two more since then. Keep 'em coming Monkey!
  • I think you share a love for Dave Matthews Band like your Mama and Dada. We were watching his concert on TV the other night and all of a sudden you dropped what you were doing and started dancing to "Corn Bread". Not just your sway back and forth dancing but really dancing....spinning circles and everything! Too cute!
  • You're favorite toy in the car right now is your little blue hammer that talks when you hammer with it. You are forever "building" something in your car seat repeating "hommer, hommer" over and over again!!
  • You are officially a dare devil. I may have already granted you this title, so if I have, I'm giving it to you again! I looked up to find you almost in the middle of the kitchen table the other day (and we have one of those high tables that's like 3 feet off the ground). Today at the playground you climbed the ladder to the big kid slide a bazillion times. Nothing scares you. I don't know if this is a good thing little man?!
  • It's so neat to watch you grow. You understand more and more everyday. The other week I said that we needed to find your shoes so we could go bye-bye, and I went about finishing what I was doing. You had scampered off only to return holding your shoes out to me! I melted (doesn't take much if you haven't already figured that out). It's no wonder you sleep for 11-12 hours a night. Your little brain is like a super sponge that soaks up all experiences and replays them at random. So smart you are!! You make Mama and Dada so proud!

A Mommy Confession

I let you fall asleep in my arms last night, Monkey. I took advantage of how tired you were. You drank your milk, we said our prayers, sang "Twinkle, Twinkle", and as I was humming you our last lullaby your eyelids got really heavy. I kept rocking and humming a wee bit longer as those baby blues closed.

I savored those few sleepy smiles that you have given since you were a newborn. I took in all your sleepy twitches and how your breathing turned heavy. I held your hand and kissed your sweet cheeks. For I know that these moments are fewer and farther between little one. You are growing too fast.

As I finally gave in and walked you to your bed, you were cradled in my arms and your little head dropped back. I was taken back to when you were so little and couldn't support your precious little head yourself. I glimpsed you again as a teeny tiny little baby. So new and sweet. How does the time go so fast?

Sweet dreams Monkey....I love you so very, very much!

Already planned!!!

Tuesday night my Husband asked me what I wanted to do for our anniversary the next night. Me, not really being the planner lately, didn't have huge plans laid out in my brain. His response, "Good because I already have Auntie lined up to babysit, so you need to pick where we're going to dinner!" I about fell off the bed! That was the best anniversary present.....to plan nothing and have him take the initiative to plan the night.

It was my choice to stay in town and go to the little local restaurant or go into Anchorage to one of the many restaurants. Me, being the low-keyed one, chose to stay local rather than drive all the way and get home super late!

It was fabulous! My ultra handsome husband across the table from me. Sun streaming through the window with the waterfall right outside. Fillet that melts in your mouth. Wonderful conversation. And creme brulee with two spoons to top it all off.

We weren't quite ready to head home after dinner, so we stopped at the ball fields and watched his cousins play softball. I kept the book. He heckled each of them as they came to the plate.

Some may think I'm crazy, but that is a wonderful anniversary to me. Simple.

After four years of marriage, he never ceases to amaze me. I fall more and more in love with him every year. We grow stronger with each passing year. Each full of new challenges and laughter that never stops (so much laughter that last week the bathroom mirror ended up with toothpaste all over it because I couldn't hold it back).

Thanks for being my rock babe! I love you forever and always!

A Roar, Long Necks, Banana Snacks?

Where do you find all of the above?
Hint: In a certain baby boy's room.
Along with colors like jalapeno pepper, bonbon, and wild artichoke.
The transformation has started.
Stay tuned for updates and the final results!!!
