Every night we say our prayers and then thank God for something. The last few nights Gabe has thanked God for everything from crayons to the neighbor kids to his tractors. Some nights we ask for His blessing about something also (ie. Mommy asks for patience alot lately).
Tonight it was the same. Prayers and then what are you thankful for. Gabe always starts because I've found that he really thinks of something on his own, rather than something very similar to what we say. Tonight he was thankful for sood (food), raspberries (they are starting to ripen in the patch and he was able to sample a few yesterday), and then he took our breaths away....."daddy get home safe". We hadn't even told him yet that Daddy was leaving for work (on an airplane) again tomorrow. I instantly teared up, and I'm pretty sure I saw Daddy's eyes turn a little red.
How did you know to ask God for this oh-so-special blessing? You take my breath away sweet boy! Such big words from such a little one!!
Godspeed to Daddy and may your little blessing come true!!

One Away
Sweetest Nick~How did time go this fast? How did we get this far? How are we only one month away from you turning one? I want to freeze time and keep you this little and happy. Because happy you are. All the time! To this day, you still haven't met a stranger. You make friends with everyone. Always quick to offer your gigantic smile that melts our hearts.
Your newest way to melt hearts.....waving! I'm pretty sure the young couple leaving in the Target parking lot yesterday melted when you were waving at them. Both were excitedly waving back at you. Happy to share a little part of your happy, innocent world.
One of my other favorites. When you are so excited to be picked up and you start flapping your arms like a little bird. So cute! I'm pretty sure you could lift yourself off the ground with all the flapping. Cutest little bird I ever did see!
I'm gonna guess that you will be walking by the time you turn one. You have really picked up distance in the last few days. Getting much more brave as the days go by. Your brother is even excited for you when you toddle a few steps!!
Speaking of your brother. He really does love you. I know you've been kinda "loved" more than you'd like lately. He's not really used to you wanting to play at his train table. He doesn't really understand that you just want to be doing what he's doing......so bad. You're day will come little man. You will pay your dues....I'm sure. You've got a lot to make up for!!
So far now littlest one, I'm going to drink up your sweetness. I'm going to hold your snuggles in close. Try to memorize how it feels to have your little body tucked in a ball and nuggled into my chest and neck. Drink in your sleepy face with those two fingers in sucking away. Record in my memory that contagious giggle that you have. Because you see little one, I know from experience, that these little things melt away fast. Before I know it you will be replacing one of these heart melters with something else equally as melty!!
I love you so very much,
Your Mommy

Magic Word
The setting: Daddy sitting on the couch eating chips. Monkey wanders over to check what the crunching is all about.
Monkey: Can I have chip?
Mommy: What's the magic word?
Monkey: Pocus!
Daddy laughing: How about please?
Monkey: Pocus please?
Needless to say, he was enjoying a chip while we were laughing at our little magician!

Sunshine for the soul!

We made it! Survived the trip and are basking in the warmth! The boys did fabulous on the flight. Thank goodness for DVD players and Little Bear. We didn't take the big boy car seat, and it worked out splendid.....thanks to you know who ;)!! My littlest was a bit to hold on to at times, but nothing a couple goldfish or dried blueberries couldn't fix!
I'm sure I looked like a comedy show plowing my way through the Minneapolis airport though. We almost had to make an emergency landing in Winipeg, so it made our already late flight just a wee bit later. Coming in at the F gate and needing to get to the B gates.....ugh! I was practically running through the airport with my two boys strapped in the double Bob...an infant car seat bungee strapped to the front.....backpack on with a shoulder bag slung over my shoulder....sweat dripping down my face and pooling on my upper lip. I had shin splints by the time we made it to our gate and made it we did!!!
We have been enjoying warmth (with a bit of rain this weekend), lightning bugs, snails, pools, shorts, and loves from all of our family!! Lots to catch up on. It will come slowly! Can't wait for tomorrow and the arrival of my bff and her sweet girls. Eagerly awaiting Daddy's arrival in a few mornings.....it's been way too long!!
Nothing like a little dose of home to make a soul feel good!
